One of the primary criteria defining PALS as an alternative education program in the Walnut Creek School District is a request that all enrolled families contribute time and energy in support of the program’s goals. PALS requests that each family contribute 60 hours per academic year (an average of 6 hours per month) to the program. Program support may be achieved through classroom support, committee work, at-home projects, or other volunteer opportunities.

Whether chaperoning for a field trip or assisting with a fundraising event, parent volunteers are essential to the PALS experience. Not only does volunteering benefit the program, active involvement on campus gives families firsthand understanding of their children's daily school activities and community. Throughout the year there are many ways parents can volunteer.
