Who We Are
PALS is a Kindergarten through 5th alternative elementary school emphasizing love of learning, academic excellence, and enhanced self esteem in an interactive, multi-age classroom format. PALS offers a strong academic program balanced by firm respect for the social, emotional, and physical developmental needs of children.
PALS is a family-oriented program in which all parents are active participants in their child's education. Enrolled families make a signed commitment to volunteer 60 hours per academic year in support of the program's goals. Some parents choose to offer classroom support, while others work behind the scenes - on committees, or on at-home projects. Program-wide activities, monthly parent meetings, a PALS newsletter, social events, and close teacher / parent communication all reflect a strong sense of community. Parkmead Active Learning School (PALS) offers informational meetings for parents interested in enrolling children for the next school year. Informational meetings are typically held twice in January for the school year starting in the Fall. An Informational Meeting must be attended prior to applying to PALS. Applications will be distributed only at the conclusion of each meeting. Dates for next year's meetings will be posted when available.
